Columbus High's Competition Cheerleaders participated in the GHSA State Com
petition on Saturday and WON FIRST PLACE. To put it mildly, we are more than a little excited. This has been such a long time coming for Columbus High. In Maggie's 4 years the competition cheerleaders have two second place finishes and one third prior to this big win. Last year they came in second by just 1 POINT! Because of that one point difference last year, the girls decided this year they were going to work harder than ever. They have had 2 practices a day most week days; one at 6:00 AM and then one practice after school and they have called extra practices on the weekend. We are so proud of their work ethic and THRILLED for them that it paid off.
To top it off, Columbus' Homecoming Dance was Saturday night so after celebrating all day with friends and family, they partied into the night with the rest of the school. By the way, the student body was amazing this year in supporting the Cheer Squad. One entire section of the Civic Center was filled with blue and orange students, signs, and the school flags. This is what high school memories are all about!
