Standard Christmas

G-Daddy summoned all the Standard's to his house for a "pre-Christmas" celebration this year and almost every Standard Family Member came. When the Standard's are all under the same roof, anything could happen. We had a great time together playing games, shopping, and of course, eating mama's cooking which is better than anything I could prepare.
Christmas isn't Christmas until we all gather around the table(s) and fellowship and we did plenty of that. The men beat the ladies at the game of Outburst this year (I'm sure they cheated...I just haven't figured out how yet.) The weekend celebration ended when we all went to church to hear Daddy preach and then went to lunch together. We are so blessed to have a family that loves one another as much as we do. What a Christmas!
Thanks Mom and Dad for planning it and pulling it all together and to my out of town family for driving down to stay for a few days. I can't wait for the next get-together!

Roll Tide

Fun Fun Fun! When Alabama beats Auburn, it is a very good day in the Reese household. Jody is a HUGE Alabama fan and we all pull for the Tide as well, UNLESS they are playing Georgia! It's easy for me because I grew up following Bama since my brother, Tommy, lived and breathed on Saturdays according to "the Bear" and how well Bama played. So, when Tommy called and offered us 2 tickets on the 50 yard line to the SEC Championship game between Alabama and Florida, you can imagine the excitement. I was still not able to travel so Brittany gladly stepped in and took my place. She and her dad met Uncle Tommy, Aunt Nancy and Daniel at the Georgia Dome to cheer on Bama with a few thousand of their closest Bama fans. Jody said before he left, he could care less if Alabama won...the greatest victory for him was on November 29th when Alabama whipped Auburn 36-0!

We Have A State Champion

Columbus High's Competition Cheerleaders participated in the GHSA State Competition on Saturday and WON FIRST PLACE. To put it mildly, we are more than a little excited. This has been such a long time coming for Columbus High. In Maggie's 4 years the competition cheerleaders have two second place finishes and one third prior to this big win. Last year they came in second by just 1 POINT! Because of that one point difference last year, the girls decided this year they were going to work harder than ever. They have had 2 practices a day most week days; one at 6:00 AM and then one practice after school and they have called extra practices on the weekend. We are so proud of their work ethic and THRILLED for them that it paid off.
To top it off, Columbus' Homecoming Dance was Saturday night so after celebrating all day with friends and family, they partied into the night with the rest of the school. By the way, the student body was amazing this year in supporting the Cheer Squad. One entire section of the Civic Center was filled with blue and orange students, signs, and the school flags. This is what high school memories are all about!

Cheerleading

Maggie is completing 4 years of cheering at Columbus High School. Today she participated in her last Region Competition. It was somewhat surreal thinking of this day as one more "last thing" we'll get to do with her. All in all it was a very exciting day however. Columbus won the competition making them the Region 2AAA Champions. She has been on a Region Champion team 3 of her 4 years at CHS.
She has very sweet and supportive big sisters who have not missed a single competition this year. Actually, they've not missed more than 2 or 3 in all four of her varsity cheerleader years. Jody and I are very fortunate to have 3 daughters as close as they are. Here are some pictures from today.

Busy Fall

Fall has rolled in with a vengeance. Maggie has kept us all very busy going to her competitions. Brittany celebrated her 22nd birthday which is very hard for me to believe! Maggie is thoroughly enjoying her senior year. Just recently she celebrated Senior Night at a football game where all the senior athletes were recognized at half time, last night was the big Northside/Columbus football game so the student body dressed for a WHITE OUT and then today the seniors dressed up for Halloween. I am including pictures of some of those nights. Brittany and Molly had a fun night at a recent Halloween party. Brittany dressed as a Hunting Girl and Molly was a Jazzercise girl from the 80's. Brittany was a Hunting Dog at work today. The pictures are a trip!
